Holika Holika 3D Medi Ampoule Mask review

I had applied to be a part of the Skin18 USA Bloggers program and got to pick a set of masks to review for free. I haven’t used many Holika Holika masks and 3D masks are always a interesting experience so I decided to give these a try.

And before I begin this short and sweet mask review…

My Skin type

  • Dry Skin
  • Non- Sensitive (literally have not reacted to hundreds of products over the course of my lifetime)
  • Concerns
    • a few pronounced sebaceous filaments on the nose
    • The occasional pimple
    • inhibiting wrinkle formation
    • preventing cancer
    • getting through rough winter weather

Now let’s talk a bit more about these masks

Adventures in 3D masking brought to you by Holika Holika and @skin18com_usa 50 states program. 3D masks are always a bit awkward to wear, I do wonder what would happen if they made a 3D mask out of cellulose or silk. To tha review . . . Brand: holikaholika Flavour: Aqua Ampoule Mask Material: pretty sure it’s cotton and it actually has the same print as Skinfood masks I believe. Fit: not the most terrible of thr 3D masks. But not as comfortable as a cellulose one. I do like the addition of chin flaps that do not strap around the ears. It made the jaw area fit better. Scent: kind of a brighter lotion scent, not like the usual floral. But wasn’t terribly strong or offensive Essence: clear thin gel Time: about 25 mins Effect: hydrating and somewhat brightening. I did like that the essence was not very sticky, but the fit is not the most comfortable thing in the world . . . #skin18 #skin18usa_reviews #skin18mask #skin18usa #sheetmask #sheetmasking #sheetfaced #mask #masking #masklife #rasianbeauty #asianbeauty #koreanbeauty #koreanskincare #koreancosmetic #kbeauty #instablogging #instabeautyblogging #instablogger #instablog #instabeauty #instaskincare #instastyle #bblogger #beauty #beautyblog #스킨케어 #코스매틱 #뷰티 #쇼핑

What all the masks claim to do

The mask is designed to adhere to the skin without slipping for maximizing the absorption of the concentrated ampoule solution, and strengthening the skin’s barrier. All 3D Medi Ampoule Masks have completed clinical tests to assure that the active ingredients are gentle on the skin and safe for all skin types. – as quoted from the front of all the masks

And they all have the same fit: There are slits around the mask in addition to a strap that folds up from under your chin

a healthy amount of chin material for a healthy amount of chin

The material is kind of like a quilted cotton (which is a similar pattern to what skinfood uses for their general masks)

wet wipe or mask? you decide

And they all have pretty much the same generic light lotion scent. It’s not too strong and doesn’t really bother me

Holika Holika 3D Medi Aqua Ampoule Mask

This mask provides abundant moisture to the skin as the highly concentrated moisturizing ampoule containing glacier water perfectly adheres to the rough and uneven skin

This mask is an “Intensive Moisture Mask”

  • Glacier Water – I will assume this is either purified water or mineral water
  • Hyaluronic Acid – a classic humectant
  • Betaine

Skin Conditioning Check

  • Moisturizing
  • Healthy Skin
  • Smooth Skin
  • Skin Balance

Essence: cleary watery gel

Effect: Just hydrating and a little brightening. No ill effects

This mask had the longest ingredient list of the three and this is partly due to them including soo many amino acids which actually act as humectants

3D Medi Soothing Ampoule Mask

This mask is meant to provide abundant nourishment and makes the skin smooth as the highly concentrated nourishing ampoule containing collagen closely adheres to the sagging and uneven skin.

This is an “Intensive Lifting Mask” which features

  • Collagen
  • Protein Complex
  • Adenosine

Skin Conditioning Check

  • Anti-Wrinkles
  • Lifting
  • Nutrition Supply
  • Skin Power

Essence: Clear watery gel

Effect: This was was kind of tingly when on. This isn’t due to menthol or anything. But it made me wonder if something might be working or irritating.

Look at that nose

Holika Holika Masks

Overall I think these are just ok. The Aqua mask was my favourte out of the three since it did live up to it’s claims and I felt that it was gentle. I think that if these masks were not in 3D form they would adhere a bit better and maaaaaybe give a better overall effect since I could wear them longer. With 3D masks in general they dry out a bit faster since they don’t completely adhere to my face.
