Disclosure: I got this free to review on the gram, but I like to blog sooo here we are
How does one prime that which is not makeup? I guess BB cream is still at least half-makeup half-skincare. Which should in turn require something that is both skincare and makeup primer. Enter the Missha BB boomer

this image was borrowed shamelessly from Missha’s website >.>
According to the bottle, “Missha M B.B Boomer is a B.B Boosting cream, which boosts the adherence and duration of B.B Cream and makes your skin look brighter when applied before B.B Cream. It’s pearl, antioxidant and moisturizing ingredients make your skin more radiant while leaving it moisturized.”
And according to the website:

Also borrowed from Missha’s website
1. Dewy, Soft Texture
Dewy, soft cream with fine, pink pearl particles imparts radiance and improves the adherence and wear of foundation
2. Moisture Barrier
Moringa (patented), Mannan, and Squalene form a moisture shield on the skin that aid in moisture retention and provide a dewy finish
3. Wrinkle Care & Brightening Skin Care Effects
Adenosine and Arbutin treat fine lines and brighten skin tone
And before we delve any deeper
My skin type
- Dry Skin
- Non- Sensitive (literally have not reacted to hundreds of products over the course of my lifetime)
- Concerns
- blackheads around the chin and on nose
- The occasional pimple
- inhibiting wrinkle formation
- preventing cancer
My Makeup preference
- I like to use CC cream or diluted BB cream as a light makeup for everyday evening of skin tone
- For photos I prefer to use a BB cream or foundation
- Since I have dry skin I look for hydrating formulas
- I prefer gel primers to silicone primers

Ahhh Sprangtyme
Missha M B.B Boomer
where is the second period in B.B.? Does it even need periods anymore?
First Impressions

a nurdle of primer
It’s texture is that of a light lotion

so very shiny
And it gives a pink iridescent finish as it is sheered out
It does have a strong scent, to myself it smells like baby powder. To others who I’ve forced to smell it reminds them of baby powder and sunscreen. If baby powder is your scent, then this primer my friend is for you.
How to use it?
In the instructions it says to apply before your BB cream or foundation, but online they mention that you can mix it in with your BB too

de la Missha
Now you might be wondering hey, which method do I like?
I actually preferred the layering over the mixing. Unless I wanted to make the BBcream/foundation more sheer. I found that for the most part I needed something that would keep my BB lasting longer vs Lightening the BB cream overall which is what happens when you mix it.
If you’re not under direct light, as shown below you don’t really see the iridescence/pink pearl effect

But let’s go into the sun

Do you see that sheen on the top part of my forearm? That is where I put the BB Boomer. The bottom half had no primer at all. It’s almost like you have a secret highlighter underneath your makeup.
What’s Inside it?
Ingredients wise, they advertise
- tiny, yes tiny, pink pearl for adherence and soft afterfeel
- Moringa oil, Mannan and Squalane for mositurization
- Adenosine and Niacinamide for whitening and wrinkles
But we must know moar, thankfully we have cosDNA

Overall it fits the trend of things that look more like skincare than makeup, lots of antioxidants, whitening and the usual emolliants. Plus some gemstone and precious metal powders…diamonds and platinum. Gives you swag points.
- Obligatory Packaging shots
- ooo

Overall Opinion: aka what you came here for?
So I have used this for about a month and here are my thoughts
- Did it make my BB cream last longer?
- Yes, but not much more than an average work day so instead of 8hrs of wear I got like 10
- Usually I find that by the end of the day my BB cream tends to separate a little on my face or just move around and when using this primer across brands like, theFaceShop, Missha, Iope and toocoolforschool it did extend my wear
- Did it cause issues?
- No, which was surprising to me since the top ingredients are silicones and I tend to shy away from very siliconey primers since they often cause my makeup to just slide right off my face.
- Was it moisturizing
- Yes, but not much more than using a light cream
- In fact, you could in humid weather opt to have this replace your cream
- Did it brighten your skin
- I couldn’t tell much of a difference but I use some heavy hitters like 20% vitamin C and AHAs
- Anything else that’s fun about it?
- it does give you a sliiiiiiight highlight. It actually reminds me of the Hourglass Ambient light powder. It’s very subtle, not my usual Shine to the GODS highlight, but not bad.
- I also really like that it is in a tube packaging with a pump. Ultra hygienic and allows the product to last longer
- I did try mixing the product into BB creams before applying and it does sheer them out and give them a more luminous effect, but it was very light
- Cons?
- I personally hate the smell of baby powder. And this smells like baby powder perfume. So the scent makes me sad. I wish Missha would make a version that was unscented
- Anything you want to say to Missha
- I think that this product, in terms of it’s BB/foundation lightening capabilities, worked well. But I think that if they can make something lighter, they should look into making a BB cream/foundation darkener. Something that primes and can help correct the color of a foundation that doesn’t quite match. This would allow for more people to use the foundations Missha already sells and even other brands (since I found this primer worked well with everybody).
So overall, not a bad product; hit the claims and the only minus was the scent.
Cheers

such spring. much wow
