Tosowoong Essence CC Cushion #22 Pink Beige Review aka Candy Swirl Makeup

I was feeling both patriotic and nautical aaaand I needed to fix the white balance

Back in July Cupidrop.com contacted a slew of Kbeauty instagrammers to try a cushion from Tosowoong and I was included. I really like their method of launching a product. You can check out their launch post here, or just enjoy this excerpt

Hello there, Beauty Lovers!

So maybe you’ve noticed, maybe you haven’t… but for the past 1.5 months or so, we’ve been working on a (not-so) secret PROJECT…

MISSION: Collaborate with as many beauty bloggers as possible to gather honest reviews on the new Tosowoong Essence Cushion series.

I personally contacted each beauty blogger to see if she would be interested in receiving this product in exchange for an honest review.  We got a lot of “YES!” and even more positive feedback afterwards.  We read every word and took every comment to heart…

And today, I am happy to announce that Cupidrop will officially be carrying the new Tosowoong Essence Cushion!!!

Now they sent out three different color combos, but for their shop, they are only carrying the pink tone-up and the light beige. I received the pink beige.

how could I refuse trying out the candy swirl

They actually gave me a choice in cushion and the pink beige seemed like it would be the darkest of the three, but to be honest they’re all quite light since they’re a CC cushion aaaand basically all bb/cc creams from Asia will be brightening.

But before we begin

My skin type

  • Dry Skin
  • Non- Sensitive (literally have not reacted to hundreds of products over the course of my lifetime)
  • Concerns
    • blackheads around the chin and on nose
    • The occasional pimple
    • inhibiting wrinkle formation
    • preventing cancer

My Makeup preference

  • I like to use CC cream everyday as a light makeup
  • For photos I prefer to use a BB cream or foundation
  • Since I have dry skin I look for hydrating formulas
  • I prefer gel primers to silicone primers

55% moisturizing essence contains Damask Rose Floral Water to add extra moisture to soothe skin; the result is even skin tone and full coverage without drying out and uncomfortable tightness.

Vitalizing Essence Cushion is available in #21 Light Beige; this translucent shade matches most skin tones.
Not recommended for those with dark skin tones.

Essence cushion offers sun protection of SPF50+/PA+++ to shield the skin against harmful UV rays.

Size: 15g / 0.53oz

And my first instagram posting which Cupiddrop has linked to every reviewers gram I believe

Hashbrown Nofilter. It seems like @cupidrop.official is going to start carrying the Tosowoong cushions! I’m trying out the ~ Essence Cushion #22 Pink Beige courtesy of them. I am drawn most to the candy swirl because #fatlyf but overall it seems like a nice light to medium coverage cushion with a more powdery finish. Which is something I’m sure my combo and oily skin friends will appreciate. I did another half face test and it’s a bit lighter than I am right now which is closer to a missha 27. The swirl also appears to stay put which is baller. Will continue to test out and report back next time on blerg.

First Impressions/Final Impressions

Well I guess this is more final impressions since the cushion is getting low on CC cream. I’ve been using it on and off for a couple months now. I used it at least once a week in rotation with other makeup since I’m always comparing wear to primers/sunscreens etc.

  • Pros
    • Smells like rose, well rose makeup. I feel like a lot of makeup has a bit of a rose scent and this one is nice
    • Has light coverage
    • brightens complexion
    • hydrating formula
  • Cons
    • Smells like rose, I actually don’t like rose scents, but I figure if you’re into them, you’d probably like this cushion
    • The coverage isn’t very long lasting
      • If you don’t use a setting powder of some kind this seems to come off on the oilier parts of the face like the nose, but if you set it then it stays longer, at least 8 hours for me
    • Even though its brightening I wish it was a few shades darker and/or they offered darker shades
    • If you have oily skin then you might find this cushion a bit too dewey of a finish, but if you have dry skin or like dewey finish you’ll love the non-drying formula
  • This is a setting powder I used with it for a matte finish

Also the obligatory packaging gallery

It wouldn’t be a peepingpomeranian review without some ingredient analysis

After comparing the ingredients on the packaging to the hwahae ingredient translations I’m 99% sure the ingredients are the same for both light beige and pink beige colors. Why I’m 99% percent sure is that going through over 100 ingredients I might have made an error.

What surprised me most about this CC cream was how much the formula looked like lotion/cream. Probably explains how hydrating I found it.

And because I hate seeing makeup reviews without some swatches & makeup on the face

Overall

I really like CC creams, I used an Olay CC cream for years before going back to Korean makeup. Even though its a lighter finish, it’s light coverage makes it comfortable to wear and make me feel like I’ve put some effort into my appearance ^.^;

Thanks to Cupiddrop for hitting me up. But if you’re interested in this particular shade you’ll have to order from Korea

Cheers
